What’s New at New 42 – January 2024

I’m so proud to start the year by telling you that the New Victory dome restoration is finished! After 13,977 hours of work on the plaster, and a team of ten working around the clock for 57 days (!), this enormous project finished in time for us to open 360 ALLSTARS at the New Victory next month.

It would not have been possible without the thoughtful management of the New 42 team members featured in this video. I am grateful to them, and to The Howard Gilman Foundation and The Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation who provided generous support.

As caretakers of the historic theaters on 42nd Street, all of us at New 42 are dedicated to maintaining them as vibrant spaces and preserving their historic details. It’s truly inspiring to look up and think of the incredible history that those plaster putti have observed over the theater’s 124 years in existence. Our work will ensure the New Victory shines for another 124 years and more!

We appreciate all of you visiting us at Stage 42 this fall, and we’re so glad to be back home. See you there!

All the best,
