This guide outlines everything you need to know before attending your field trip, including directions, seating policies, accessibly accommodations and more. Ticket Reservation Guidelines Details on season ticket allowances, group sizes and reservation limitations Ticket Reservations Tickets for Education performances are open to all New Victory Partner Schools. Ticket availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Teachers and chaperones must have a 10:1 student to chaperone ratio. If your school policies necessitate more chaperones, you may request additional tickets, up to a 5:1 student to chaperone ratio. Please send written requests to Education_Tickets@NewVictory.org. NOTE: Some performances for early education students take place in smaller performance spaces with smaller capacities and ticket maximums. The minimum group size allowed per Education performance is 5 students and 1 chaperone. Ticket Allowances New Victory Education Partners receive season ticket allowances based on when they enroll and submit their Partnership fee by. Note that ticket window dates are subject to change. September 30: 400 tickets October 1 – December 31: 300 tickets January 1 – End of season: 200 tickets After-School Partners and Homeschool groups receive a ticket allowance of 250 tickets regardless of ticket window. Partners are allotted a maximum of 165 tickets per performance. Post-Ticket Reservations Details on paying balances and adjusting existing reservations. Outstanding Balances & Payment Options For school-time ticket orders, balances should be paid no later than the date of your reservation. You can submit payment via card, check or purchase order in advance or via cash, card or check in person. If paying at the door, please do so at the box office prior to the start of the performance. Late arrivals will have to contact the Education Department to pay any outstanding balance. Outstanding balances must be paid in order to book tickets or renew your Partnership. Adjusting or Canceling Ticket Reservations To cancel ticket reservations or make changes to student or chaperone counts, the School must notify the New Victory Education Department 10 business days (two weeks) before the event. Additional tickets are not guaranteed due to capacity limits. 646.223.3090 Education_Tickets@NewVictory.org If a cancellation occurs after the 10 business days, the School is still responsible for the ticket balance. If a School must cancel their field trip, the Education Partnership team will try to reschedule them based on ticket availability. There are no refunds issued for ticket cancellations. Seating Policy Details on seating assignment and capacity in the New Victory Theater Assigned Seating To make your experience at the theater as efficient and safe as possible, you will not be issued tickets ahead of time. New Victory Education staff carefully assign seats before each performance, factoring in grade, group size and special circumstances. We cannot honor specific seating requests except for requests required for accessibility. Seating Capacity The capacity of the New Victory Theater is 499 seats. The theater has Orchestra, Mezzanine and Balcony seating levels. Each level will have multiple school groups. Seating capacity for shows at New 42 Studios varies by show. We ask that your group remains seated after the show. As soon as we can escort you to your bus, the subway or the restrooms, an usher will come to you. Accessibility & Accommodations Information on booking accessible performances and requesting in-theater accommodations Wheelchair Accessibility New Victory venues are wheelchair accessible and offer a variety of seating arrangements. Refer to the guidelines on our accessibility page. Assistive Listening Devices Assisted listening devices amplify and clarify sound for those who are hard of hearing or have hearing loss. Order at the time of ticketing or contact the Education Department at Education_Tickets@NewVictory.org before the performance date. Sign Interpretation and Audio Description A sign-interpreted and audio-described Education performance is available for each production on a specified date and time. American Sign Language interpretation refers to a live sign language interpreter conveying all the show’s details to those who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing or experience hearing loss. An audio-described performance has visual elements of the show described and transmitted into an earpiece for those who are blind or have low vision. Please reserve tickets to these performance dates if either of these services are required for your group, and indicate this need during your ticket order. If you need either of these services but cannot attend on the audio-described or sign-interpreted date, please contact us at Education_Tickets@NewVictory.org. Sensory-Friendly New Victory Education offers sensory-friendly performances for certain shows. The sound will be adjusted to lower levels, house lights will be left at half and extra staff will be on-site to support audience members as needed. Fidgets and other sensory tools are available as needed at every performance. Please ask a staff member if you need one during your next visit. Health & Safety Guidelines Before your field trip, review all the policies and guidelines that protect the health and safety of student audiences, artists and staff. New Victory is committed to the safety of our visitors, performers and employees. We monitor and follow the guidance and recommendations from the CDC and the NY State Department of Health and will update our practices as circumstances change. Some of our policies and protocols include: Masks are welcomed but not required. The theater, including the auditorium, seats, armrests, railings, door knobs and other high-touch surfaces, are cleaned and sanitized before each performance. Bathrooms are ventilated and equipped with touchless toilets, sinks and soap dispensers. Air hand dryers are disabled. Touchless hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the building. Our air filtration system is outfitted with MERV-13 filters. The air in the auditorium is fully replaced after every performance. Pre-Trip Planning Things to know before you leave, like what to leave at school and what to do about lunch Arrival Time Plan to arrive at the venue at least 45 minutes before curtain time. The building opens one hour before curtain (i.e., 10am for an 11am performance). Lunch New Victory venues are not equipped to host lunch/snacks. No eating is allowed in the theater or any New Victory lobbies. Bags Please keep bags at school if possible. If students bring bags to the theater, they must put them in a bin to be kept in the lobby during the show. Transportation Tips Details on directions, bus drop-off and pick-up, and parking According to the NYC Department of Education (NYCDOE), yellow school buses are available for field trips during the school day. We recommend you schedule and confirm school buses well before your reserved New Victory field trip date(s). Buses Drop Off If you are arriving by bus, ensure your driver drops your group off on the north side of 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Please get your bus driver’s bus number and contact information in case you need to reach them at pick up. Parking 42nd Street is highly congested and has a high volume of traffic. Per the New York City Department of Transportation, vehicles cannot sit idle or park on the street without special permission. Once your bus is empty, the bus driver must find parking nearby. Possible locations: 8th Avenue (both sides) between 38th and 39th Streets 11th Avenue (both sides) between 39th and 40th Streets Pick Up Please ensure your driver picks your group up on the north side of 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Taking Midtown traffic into consideration, bus drivers should leave their waiting location approximately 15 minutes prior to the return time given by the Front of House staff. Front of House staff will help safely load your student group after the show has ended. By Public Transportation By Subway 1/2/3 N/R/Q/W/7 to Times Square—42nd Street Exit the station at 42nd Street/7th Avenue. When you come out of the turnstile, take the stairs to your right. All New Victory venues are directly to the west of the subway station. A/C/E to 42 St-Port Authority Exit the station at 42nd Street/8th Avenue. When you come out of the turnstile, take the stairs to your right. All New Victory venues are directly to the east of the subway station. B/D/F/M to 42nd Street—Bryant Park Exit at 42nd Street/6th Avenue. Walk west on 42nd Street until you come to 7th Avenue. The venues are on the north side of the street at 7th Avenue, directly west of the Times Square—42nd Street subway station. MTA Bus The M10, M16, M27, M42 and M104 buses all stop within one block of the venues. From Staten Island By Bus/Train Take the S74 or S54 to the SIM33C (Midtown Via Church Via Madison). Take it to Church Street & Vesey Street. Walk to the Uptown 3 train at Park Place. Take it to Times Square—42nd Street. The venues are on the north side of the street at 7th Avenue, directly west of the subway station. By Staten Island Ferry From the St. George Ferry Terminal, take the Staten Island Ferry to Whitehall Terminal. Take the Uptown 1 train to Times Square—42nd Street. The venues are on the north side of the street at 7th Avenue, directly west of the subway station. Inclement Weather Policy Details on what happens in the event of inclement weather We must cancel a performance for ALL Education Partners if the New York City DOE decides to cancel school and/or cancel field trips due to inclement weather. If school is in session and public transportation is running, scheduled Classroom Workshops WILL occur. The Chancellor’s decision to close school or cancel field trips will be communicated to radio and television stations before 6am. We will notify all School Liaisons via phone and email in the event of cancellation. We will work to reschedule your trip if the performance is canceled, but we may not have the seating capacity to do so. Classroom Workshops can also be rescheduled.
