Experience a guided tour of New York City dance this summer at New Victory Dance! Hosted by New Victory Teaching Artists and thoughtfully curated specifically for young audiences, each program showcases a mixed bill of acclaimed NYC-based dance companies—three per program, nine in total—and features an interactive Talk-Back with the dancers and choreographers. It’s a full summer of dance free for summer schools and camps!
Deeply inspired by the soulful house sounds of NYC’s club culture, LORE explores the way we connect to music, to each other and to an embodied wisdom passed down from those that came before us.
Performing traditional Ivorian dance, elaborate and explosive percussion with a corps of brilliant drummers, Kotchegna Dance Company presents the authentic village culture and customs of West Africa’s Ivory Coast.
Accidental Suite is a meditation evoking chance encounters, remote impressions, near misses, and the magnetic push and pull of relationships. This excerpt intertwines lush vignettes that tap into the most essential of human needs: connecting to one another.

Ephrat “Bounce” Asherie, a 2016 Bessie Award winner for Innovative Achievement in Dance, creates work for the dynamic group of multifaceted dancers in her company EAD. Rooted in a multiplicity of African American and Latine vernacular dances, including breaking, hip-hop, house and vogue, EAD is dedicated to exploring the inherently complex and dynamic qualities of these forms.
Specializing in the performance traditions of Cote d’Ivoire which include mask and stilt dances, intricate footwork and syncopated drum beats, Kotchegna Dance Company’s irresistible energy has been embraced by audiences from New York’s Prospect Park Bandshell and the American Museum of Natural History to the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival and Jacob’s Pillow. Under the artistic direction of master dancer and percussionist Vado Diomande, Kotchegna is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most exciting West African dance troupes in the United States.
Barkin/Selissen Project (BSP), a New York City-based contemporary dance company founded in 2009, presents the choreography of Artistic Directors Kyla Barkin and Aaron Selissen through live performance, film and workshops. The company strives to blur lines between the emotional and intellectual, dreamworlds and waking states. Shifting between nuanced movement and explosive athleticism, their choreography infuses fresh perspectives on complex subjects and cross-topic collaborations in areas such as mathematics, linguistics and human nature.
