We’re gearing up for the eleventh season of New Victory Dance, featuring nine incredible dance companies all from our hometown. We’re especially excited that the very first artist to be featured this summer is Jerron Herman—who happens to have been a New 42 Apprentice in the Education Department in Summer 2011. Thursday nights in July, the New Victory is the place to be for public performances. During the weekdays, students in grades 2-12 visit the theater for free to see this exciting mixed bill of dance styles. New Victory Teaching Artists facilitate workshops at school and camp sites, so kids are prepared for what they will see on stage. Talk-Backs are included after every public and student performance, leading to conversations between kids and artists about finding inspiration, building confidence and the importance of practice. These exchanges are annually among my favorite moments at the theater. We hope you’ll join us for one, two or all three Thursday nights in July. Wishing you a wonderful summer filled with joy, happiness and family.
