Kudos especially to our friends at Little Island, where you can see New Victory Teaching Artists and New Victory LabWorks Artists nearly every weekend. We know first-hand the planning, problem-solving and ingenuity that goes into making these events happen, and it is with those same skills and dedication that we reopen the New Victory Theater this fall. Today, we’re excited to announce the 2021-22 New Victory Season, thoughtfully curated by our Artistic Director Mary Rose Lloyd. With continued emphasis on the health and safety of our kids and families, we found new ways to change our seating plans, show schedules and protocols so that you can have a little peace of mind with every ticket purchase. We will release policies around specific shows at the time of their on-sale dates. By trusting us with your return to the theater, you will discover a mix of in-person productions and virtual presentations that offer you the flexibility of choice in the year ahead. On the New Victory stage, we begin with shared experiences of the last year, beautifully articulated by Black, Latinx and Asian American teens from New York City in Generation Rise (November 5 – 14, 2021), and shared memories like the stage adaptation of the beloved puppet-filled classic holiday special Jim Henson’s Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas (December 10 – January 2, 2022). These shows will be available to purchase on September 29. And, exactly two years after their sold-out run was interrupted by the pandemic, Step Afrika! returns (April 20 – May 8, 2022) followed by a marvel of storybook storytelling in Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster (June 4 – 26, 2022), adapted from the picture books by Mo Willems. Along with the six shows on stage (also available online along with a soon-to-be-revealed slate of on-demand presentations), exciting new work is in the making. We’re thrilled to support Nehprii Amenii, Ty Defoe, Indygo Afi Ngozi and Marcus Yi as next year’s New Victory LabWorks Artists, as well as Christopher Rudd as the inaugural participant of New Victory LabWorks Launch. Inventive on stage and off, New Victory and our community of artists reimagine what performing arts for families can be this season and in the years to come. The future is looking bright. I can’t wait to see you at the theater! Russell Granet New 42 President & CEO CategoriesNew Victory Season, NewsTagsRussell Granet Share: Share on Facebook. Share on Twitter.
