Since then, the program has provided over 400,000 hours of paid employment to over 660 NYC teens from across the city. Find out how young people ages 16-21 can apply to be a part of this award-winning program here! All season long, we’ll be featuring young people from the Usher Corps in our show programs and here on New Victory Stories. Today, we’re talking to third-year usher Haley Gerena from Riverdale, the Bronx. If you could make a show for the New Victory stage what would it be? It would be a show about equality because the world needs a reminder. What artistic pursuits do you have? I like singing because it helps with my memory and it brings me joy. What was your favorite moment from working at the New Victory? I have two favorite moments. One was when I was working at a Family Workshop and a little girl danced with me. The second is when I was working at a New Victory show and I got to know a little girl who didn’t speak English—she played with me and then hugged me! The show I’m most excited about this season is… New International Encounter’s Snow White because I love fairy tales. What is your dream job? I want to be a lawyer or politician so I can try my best to change society for the better. Who inspires you? My mom because she’s been through a lot and she still keeps going. What is your favorite subject in school? English because it inspires me to be creative. What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work? I like to sleep! Describe your dream vacation. I want to explore Canada and England. CategoriesYouth CorpsTagsUsher Spotlight, Ushers Share: Share on Facebook. Share on Twitter. Read Similar Posts: New 42 College Corps: Applications Are Live!
