To continue our longstanding commitment to offer you free arts engagement with every show, New Victory Arts Break is our ongoing series of free activities designed for you and your family to explore the performing arts together. Not seeing a show? No worries! New Victory Arts Break is available online and free to use. Aside from a few household objects, all you need is a big imagination and a lot of creativity. Whether you learn some new moves, create a work of art or simply try something new, we hope you get up, get moving and have fun with New Victory Arts Break! Here’s a look at some of the season’s highlights so far: Devise a Theatrical Performance Create stories from scratch! Follow along with New Victory Teaching Artist Ugo Anayanwu as he guides us through a free-writing devising exercise that inspires a piece of movement. Delve into more devised theater, fashion a fortune teller and make a memory map with New Victory Arts Break: Devised Theater! Create a Monologue Join New Victory Teaching Artist Heidi Stallings as she takes us through the process of creating a monologue inspired by a treasured photo. In the mood for more monologue merrymaking? Practice writing and performing from the heart in the rest of New Victory Arts Break: Monologues! Everyone Has a Talent! Follow along with New Victory Teaching Artist Julia Sirna-Frest as she teaches us a song that we can personalize to showcase our own talents. Warm up your voice and explore the musical inspiration all around you in the rest of New Victory Arts Break: Songwriting and Music-Making! Create Character Voices Follow along with New Victory Teaching Artist Ana Cantorán Viramontes, and explore different ways of creating voices for the puppet characters in your life! Craft more charismatic characters and puppets with personality in the rest of New Victory Arts Break: Character Creation! Become a Puppet! Join New Victory Teaching Artist Spencer Lott as he uses a few articles of clothing—and the helping hands of an ensemble of friends—to become a puppet himself! Partake in more puppet-filled play and explore different puppetry performance styles, both on our own and with a little help from our friends, in the rest of New Victory Arts Break: Puppet Performance! Explore the arts wherever you are!
