Family Engagement

When you visit the New Vic this fall, you'll discover a fresh new look, modernized restrooms and an updated merchandise stand!

From October to the beginning of December, there will be limited concessions and engagement activities available. Then, the Jack and Lew Rudin Lobby will open with more room, more food and more fun! You'll find exciting new ways to engage your family with the performing arts and a cafe where you can enjoy an updated menu of healthy food and beverage options.

During The Young King, A Sky for the Bears and The Migration, if you plan to arrive to the theater early, please be advised that the lower Lew's Lobby will be closed and there will not be pre or post-show (or "Arts Express") activities available. TXT Marks the Spot will be available pre- and post-show for A Sky for the Bears and The Migration. Further amenities and programs will return starting with Jason Bishop: Believe in Magic.

Pre and Post-ShowLearn more about The New Victory and the shows on our stage by playing our text-based scavenger hunts. All it takes is for your family to have a phone that sends and receives text messages and 10 minutes before or after the show. Once you log into the game, a series of text message clues will lead you to discover fun information about the theater and the show.

We encourage families to use phones in our lobbies as part of TXT Marks the Spot, and ask that the phones be turned off and powered down once the curtain lifts and the magic of the show begins.

Post-ShowAsk questions and get to know the performers and creative team. New Victory Teaching Artists, who have in-depth knowledge of the show and art form, lead these lively discussions.

Look for the Talk-Back icons on the performance calendars (there are no Talk-Backs after The Young King, Marmalade, A Sick Day for Morris McGee, Pss Pss or Panda's Home).

For each production, the award-winning New Victory Education Department also prepares a free, online Family Activity to do right in your own home. Enjoy the latest one here.

Family Workshops take the onstage art forms into the Studio (the professional New 42nd Street Studios, where Broadway companies rehearse). Taught by New Victory Teaching Artists and created to engage both kids and adults, these 90-minute workshops are the perfect opportunities to deepen relationships to the arts and make memories.

Family Workshops: $12 / participant for Members; $17 / participant for Non-Members.
