Season Cancellation FAQ

On March 12, due to the COVID-19 virus, New 42 canceled the New Victory season.

This affects all events from March 13 through June 14, 2020.

We have created this FAQ document to provide initial support for ticket holders and all of our community. We welcome additional questions at

Q: What does this mean for the tickets I bought this season?

A: New Victory Ticket Services will be contacting ticket holders over the next several weeks for exchanges or refunds. Any ticket holder who wishes to use the value of their canceled tickets towards next season may do so. This option is available by calling Ticket Services at 646.223.3010. As we consider the artists, teachers, stagehands, administrative staff and the New York City youth in our employ, we hope you might also consider donating your tickets back to New 42 as a tax-deductible contribution by emailing Please bear with us—it’s a lot of calls!

Q: What are you doing with School Partners and their tickets for this season?

A: Schools will not be charged for reserved tickets remaining in the season. If School Partners have already paid in advance for these productions, the Education team will be contacting them in the coming weeks to initiate a refund. However, we continue to offer our scheduled New Victory Classroom Workshops unless prohibited by the NYC Department of Education.

Q: Why did you choose to cancel all the way through June? Is’t it enough to close until April?

A: Restrictions on travel and public gatherings both abroad and here in the United States, and in New York City for the foreseeable future, leaves us with a situation outside of our control and makes it impossible for us to continue our normal operations this season. The New Victory season features shows from all over the world. Our theater is just one stop on our artists’ international tours. We’ve been closely monitoring both the situation here in the U.S. and in the many cities and countries from which our artists and freight are arriving. Our only option is to temporarily close the theater through June 14. We plan to be back with New Victory Dance in July and of course for our 25th anniversary season in the fall!

Q: Will these canceled shows be returning in the future?

A: As Artistic Director Mary Rose Lloyd shared with the affected artists, she will make every effort to reschedule the companies into a future season. We are in communication with these artists and our entire New Victory artist family, and continue to send them well wishes from here in New York.
