Description

Luna Negra Dance Theater
Chicago, USA

Luna Negra fires up The New Victory stage this winter in their highly anticipated New York debut. Masterfully blending both classic and contemporary dance with Latino forms, Luna Negra is "not just a showcase for splendid dancing, but for the whole gamut of theatrical activity" (The Chicago Tribune). Led by Eduardo Vilaro, the 2001 Ruth Page Award winner in choreography, Luna Negra is the only professional dance company in the U.S. exclusively devoted to contemporary Latino choreographers and composers. When Vilaro comes to town with his “company of impressive artistry,” (Chicago Sun Times), the eye-popping result will be a gravitational pull of energy, passion and celebration.

The program includes:

Sonetos de Amor (Love Sonnets)
Choreographer: Pedro Ruiz

Sugar in the Raw (Azucar Cruda)
Choreographer: Michelle Manzanales

Quinceanera (Sweet Fifteen)
Choreographer: Eduardo Vilaro
