From Teater Refleksion & Branar TéatarBased on a book by Oliver Jeffers, Harper Collins Publishers

When a boy discovers a single-propeller airplane in his bedroom, he does what any young adventurer would do: flies into outer space! When the plane begins to sputter and quake, our intrepid explorer must execute a daring landing on the moon. But never fear, he is not alone up there… Using intimate puppetry and original music, Ireland's Branar Téatar y Denmark's Teater Refleksion (Songs from Above, New Vic 2013) create a whimsical world in THE WAY BACK HOME, a story about friendship and the courage to conquer the unknown.

"Oliver Jeffers' book jumps off the page and into space in this beautiful stage adaptation."Irish Times  "Children and adults alike were enchanted... for any fan of Jeffers' work, either young or old, this is a must see."No More Workhorse "Beautiful and deceptively simple"Connacht Tribune

Getting to Know Teater Refleksion and Branar Téatar

No stranger to the New Vic, Denmark's Teater Refleksion uses vibrant, intricate puppet theater to dramatize encouraging and inspiring stories. Ireland's Branar Téatar is also known for creating minimalist, elegant theater that educates and delights kids and families. By their puppet powers combined, they circle up with wee theatergoers to share a simple tale of friendship amid beautifully hand-crafted puppets and simple, imaginative sets—an adorable dream team of puppet theater for the very young!

Accolades and Highlights:

  • Teater Refleksion was nominated for the Best Children's Show at Denmark's Reumert Awards twice, first for Arthur and the Angel in 1999 and again for The Prince and the Servant in 2001.
  • Bláth, Branar Téatar's non-verbal adaptation of John Light and Lisa Evans' children's book The Flower, toured to nine venues across Ireland in 2015 after sold-out performances at the 2014 Galway International Arts Festival.
