Luv: American-Style
Rennie Harris RHAW from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Popping & locking to a soundtrack of chart-topping rock, the talented young performers of Rennie Harris Awe-inspiring Works (New Vic 2013) use dance and dialogue to portray one young man's struggle with identity, love and justice. Choreographed by Alvin Ailey Award recipient Dr. Rennie Harris, his laws of hip hopindividuality, creativity and innovation—rule in this compelling mix of street styles. Break out of the circle and across the floor when RHAW goes rock in LUV: AMERICAN-STYLE.

"Uplifting, high-energy fun"
Rennie Harris has a "deep knowledge of hip hop dancing" and a "longstanding lack of interest in maintaining any sort of hip hop status quo." The New York Times

Getting to Know Rennie Harris RHAW

Rennie Harris RHAW returns for their second New Vic engagement (and master choreographer Dr. Rennie Harris's fourth production here). Dr. Harris founded RHAW as a youth organization driven by community outreach, education and mentorship, pushing a dramatic aesthetic to present hip hop in its RHAW-est form. Featuring the newest, most up-and-coming members in the ensemble, LUV: AMERICAN-STYLE is their first go at a full-length dance musical that combines themes of growing up with "awe-inspiring" moves that push hip hop past its limits. Authentic and artful, you'll love this latest from a New Vic favorite!

All The Way From...

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
...Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Even beyond its well-known importance during the Revolutionary War, Philadelphia lays claim to many of the nation's firsts—The University of Pennsylvania was the nation's first medical school, the Walnut Street Theatre was the nation's first theater and the city was home to the nation's first subscription public library.

Your Trip to Our Theaters

Just steps from the Times Square-42nd Street subway stops, The New Victory is a 499-seat, historic, jewel box theater restored to its original glory. The majority of our shows are presented here, in the oldest operating theater in New York City. Down in the lobby you'll find stroller parking, free lockers to store your stuff, healthy snacks and New Vic merch to take home.

Located inside the New 42nd Street Studios building, The Duke on 42nd Street is home to New Victory programming that requires a more intimate space.

Located just down the block from The New Victory Theater, the New 42nd Street Studios host New Vic shows geared towards our youngest audience members. The space allows for a variety of seating configurations, including options for floor seating, making it easy to move around and step out of the theater area if you and yours need to do so. Stroller parking and changing tables are available.
