Today we're talking to third-year usher Gabriela Casas, from the Bronx!
Who or what inspires you?
I don't have anyone specifically that inspires me but I do admire people who come into my life and have goals and ambition, people that give me hope, who inspire me to keep striving and never give up.

What was your favorite book or movie as a kid?
I have way too many books and movies to even think about choosing one. I guess I would have to say I am a huge Disney fan and I loved reading Dr.Seuss books.

What's your fondest or earliest childhood memory?
I think my fondest memory as a kid would be playing all of my dad’s old records--music from the 70's, 80's and old Hispanic music. We didn't have much, but music always filled my family's life.

What is/was your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject in school was always History. I was fascinated by everything that happened in the past and how it happened. That was my best class and it still is today. I watch a lot of documentaries about historical events.

What's your favorite thing to do when you're not at work?
My favorite things to do when I’m not working are sleep, watch movies, shop and read.

What's your favorite NYC hangout or neighborhood?
My favorite places to hang out are in the Heights or Dyckman. They're home to me.

What's the most challenging thing about being an usher?
The most challenging thing about being an usher is worrying about not being good enough or not meeting the standards of what is expected.

What's your secret skill or hidden talent?
My secret talent is that I’m double jointed.

What's your favorite song right now?
My favorite song right now is “Lay me Down” by Sam Smith. That guy can sing!!

What's your dream vacation?
My dream vacation is to go to Disney World. Yes, how geeky, but that has always been my childhood dream.

If you could go to lunch with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
If I can go to lunch with anyone it would have to be Selena Quintanilla. She was such an amazing person and I have always loved her.

What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of finishing high school and having two jobs. I think when I get into college and graduate, that will then be my proudest moment.
