New Victory Usher Corps

At New Victory, high school juniors and seniors make up our Usher Corps, an award-winning, rigorous year-to-year creative youth development program that offers:

  • Flexible paid employment
  • Personal and professional growth
  • A supportive team of young adults from across the city
  • Professional training and workshops
  • Hands-on work with kids and families in a friendly, fast-paced environment
  • Opportunities to see live theater from around the world

The Usher Experience

Working at New Victory

During fall orientation and training sessions, ushers learn about their job responsibilities in the broader context of theater operations. Our season schedules include day, evening and weekend shifts and over 30 workshops. Ushers must work a three-shift minimum weekly and are eligible for pay increases after completing each program year.

Learning at New Victory

In addition to fulfilling their on-the-job responsibilities, ushers attend job training seminars and career/life-skills workshops throughout the season. These seminars and workshops are dedicated to enhancing personal and professional skills.

Some workshops include Goal Setting, Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Money Management, Conflict Management and Resolution, Time Management and Career Panels.

Application & Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Be enrolled as a junior in high school or the equivalent in an HSE/GED program.
  • Be able to work a three-shift minimum each week (between shifts in the theater and workshops), including day, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Be able to attend select mandatory weekday after-school workshops.
